Claudia Acuña Named New Story's Chief Impact Officer

Today, we're proud to announce that Claudia Acuña has been named New Story's chief impact officer.

Claudia has been part of the New Story team since 2023, and this promotion reflects her exceptional contributions, talent, and the growing importance of in-country leadership as we scale our work across Latin America.

Few people understand Mexico's housing crisis as deeply as Claudia does. Over nearly two decades, she has worked at the center of it — holding senior roles at Mexico's Ministry of Social Development (SEDESOL), the Federal Mortgage Society (SHF), and INFONAVIT, the country's national housing fund. There, she served as Mexico's national coordinator of housing self-production, designing and implementing programs to expand housing access and quality for low-income families.

She's also served on the boards of civil society organizations dedicated to housing for vulnerable communities and has worked directly in the social housing enterprise sector. Claudia earned her undergraduate degree in International Relations from Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) and holds a master's degree in Social Policy and Planning in Developing Countries from the London School of Economics.

As chief impact officer, Claudia will lead New Story impact strategy and partnerships that deepen and expand our footprint across Mexico and Latin America. Her market knowledge and relationships across government agencies, financial institutions, and civil society give our team an edge that few organizations in this space can match.
